Although the re homing of dogs is the largest single part of the work of Arthurshiel we also have an aviary in which wild birds are nursed back to health with the intention of being released back into the wild.

Owls have featured strongly in the past but we have also had exotic birds such as a miniature Macaw found in a garden outside St Boswells.

The type of animals cared  for and re homed is almost unlimited ranging from small family pets such as gerbils and kittens to adult horses.

All this care comes at a cost and Arthurshiel is a registered charity which must self fund its operations.  To assist with this a limited amount of cat and dog boarding is available, usually taken up by animals re homed from the Centre.
