Our web site is designed to give you an insight into the work of Arthurshiel Rescue Centre,at St Boswells in the Scottish Borders.
On behalf of the Scottish Borders Council the centre takes in all the stray dogs found within the Borders Region boundaries,a huge area, as well as unwanted pets from the general public.
In any year the centre will re home around 500 dogs and many other animals and birds as varied as the pets people keep.
There is also an aviary where many wild birds are nursed back to health and which is a great attraction for visiting children.
All of this is done without any grants or financial assistance other than by our own fund raising efforts and the generosity of the animal loving public.
The Centre is recognised as a training facility and often has students from various organisations and countries who help to train the many dogs before they go to new homes.
As well as the re homing aspect the centre also has a high quality cat boarding establishment in a lovely secluded orchard where a thermally insulated building with outside runs attached is provided.

Arthurshiel exists on a financial knife edge and things are particularly hard during this recession. We rely solely on the generosity of our supporters and the general public but always have to be on the lookout for new ways of raising funds to enable us to carry on our work with the animals.
For this reason we have created our online shop and would like to invite you to use it whenever possible.
